Web forms

Understand how to create & add web forms to a content block on a page.

Similar to galleries and news articles, forms must be first created in the Admin Area before you can display them on a page (see the Forms page for more information).

To drop the forms control onto a webpage, go to the controls option in the Blue Bar, then choose form builder then form viewer. Once you have added this control to the page, you will have multiple options to choose from.

You can first choose which form you would like to show from a drop-down menu. As a default, every site will have a pre-made "contact” form for you to use. You will then be able to choose an email template that is linked to the form. This decides on which email will be sent to you when a user submits this form.

When creating a form, each form field will have a particular ID associated with it (which you can customise). You can then create an email template which references these IDs. To exemplify, you might have a contact form with the following fields:

  • Name (ID = ContactName)
  • Email (ID = ContactEmail)
  • Inquiry (ID = ContactInquiry)

You can then create an email template which sends you the following message:

“A user has completed your contact form:

ContactName
ContactEmail
ContactInquiry”

What is key to note here, is that this email template will not work with a form that includes different ID names. As such, you will need a specific email template for each form you created. Alternatively, there is the option to choose a “general template” which will send you the entire form submission. This is likely the simplest option.

You can finally then choose what a user will see once they submit the form. The options are as follows.

  • Show “thank you” content = You can write some copy in an editor, which will display to a user when they click submit
  • Show completed form = This will just show the completed form when they click submit.
  • Show “thank you” content and completed form = Both of the above.
  • Redirect to a page = You can create an entirely separate page which has some “thank you” content on it, which the user is then redirected to.
