Adding news articles to your website is a two-step process. You must first create your news article in the Admin Area of the CMS (see the news and blogs page for further information). Once you have done this, you can add the news article to your webpages.
When you go to edit the relevant page, navigate to controls in the top left of the Blue Bar, then to Media. You will see you have two options relevant to the news:
- Article summaries
- Show article
Article summaries
The article summaries control will display a shortened summary of a set amount of news articles. If a user then clicks on one of these summaries, they will be taken to the full article. This control is best used on your homepage or a dedicated subpage which displays all of your relevant news articles.
When applying the article summaries control to the page, you’ll initially be presented with different options. You will be able to customise how many articles will be shown on desktop, tablet, and mobile view. You’ll also be able to dictate how many articles should be shown, and if you only want to display articles which are tagged with a certain category. For example, you might want to display one set of news articles which relate to legal changes in the field and, on another page, display less formal blog posts. You might then have two categories: “legal” and “blog”, allowing you to display only the “legal” articles on one subpage and only the “blog” articles on another page.
Show article
The show article control allows you to simply display the most recent article in full, and then present “related articles” underneath. When adding this control to a page, you will have the option to choose how many related articles should be shown, as well as how many will sit side-by-side on different screen sizes.
All-in-all, the show article control is very similar to the article summaries control, except for the fact that the most recent article is shown in full.
